Because in the moving process, the state of the target movement is constantly changing, and while it is still subjected to the terrain, all kinds of noise and other disturbances. How to improve tracking precision of the target becomes a difficult problem. The cognitive radar is a new solution that can improve radar performance and target tracking accuracy in complex environment. It was first given in2003by Professor S. Haykin, McMaster University in Canada.With the support of National Natural Science Foundation, I discussed the problem of tracking target in cognitive radar in this paper, analyzed that the transmitted waveform of the radar waveform has influence on tracking accuracy and studied the method of adaptive transmitted waveform when the external environment changed in order to achieve the goal that can effectively improve target tracking accuracy in the complex environment.This paper systematically analyzes and summarizes the development of multi model algorithm, focusing on the principle of classic interacting multiple model algorithm, the various components of the system structure in cognitive tracking system, studies the maneuvering target tracking problem in depth. I proposed an algorithm in cognitive tracking system that is adjustable pulse width IMM(interacting multiple models) algorithm. It is able to improve effectively improve the tracking accuracy. I did the simulation experiment for maneuvering target in the Intel Core2E6550,2.33GHz dual-core CPU,2G memory system platform. The result shows the proposed algorithm has better tracking performance than conventional IMM algorithm.
