MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network)is a multi-hop temporary autonomous system and is made up of some mobile nodes equipped with wireless transmitter-receiver set.For the characteristics as independence of fixed communication infrastructure and without central control node,Ad Hoc network has a wide and deep application in emergency events, military and civilian fields,multi-media applications and so on.MANET has been gradually growing from a branch of the wireless communication field to a relatively independent field. It has attracted more attention increasingly by communications industry.Due to the features such as self-organizing,dynamical topological structure and wireless-connection,traditional routing protocols can’t be adopted effectively in mobile Ad hoc network. The routing protocol issues in this network environment is becoming a mainly topic and a hot point problem in the research of Ad hoc network. And analyze their strengths and weaknesses, as well as to compare these two protocols, AODV and DSR routing discovery process similar to similar, but there are still several major differences. Since each DSR packet must bring a complete routing information, while AODV packet contains the destination address only, so the overhead of DSR than in AODV big. AODV route reply just to bring the destination node address and serial number, so DSR route reply also relatively large, DSR storage overhead than AODV larger.Combination of multi-path routing and AODV protocol characteristics, the paper focuses on the Ad Hoc network routing protocols and technology, from the background, advantages, in terms of design features of the multi-path routing protocol and carried out studies and discusses the two kinds of typical routing protocols:AODV (Ad Hoc on-demand Distance vector Routing, Ad Hoc On Demand Distance Vector protocol), DSR (Dynamic Source Routing, the dynamic state Source Routing Protocol). It primarily analyzes the Ad Hoc network through the two typical-on-demand routing protocols DSR and AODV principle, studied the DSR routing protocol, AODV routing protocol route discovery and route maintenance mechanisms.Studied the DSR routing protocol, AODV routing protocol route discovery and route maintenance mechanisms. AODV route reply just to bring the destination node address and serial number, so DSR route reply also relatively large, DSR storage overhead than AODV larger. Combination of multi-path routing and AODV protocol characteristics,it also carries out the study on multi-channel and puts forward algorithm of multi-route based on AODV routing protocol. Besides, The paper shows the multi-way comparison of statistical parameter including the average end-to-end delay, data packet traNSmission rate and data packet loss rate with the AODV routing protocol inthe performance. The results show that in the absence of a marked increase in routing protocol overhead, the end-to-end average delay decreased and end-to-end traNSfer rate improved to a certain extent.
