Multi-point multi-user transmission architecture based enhanced multi-antennatechnology is an effective way to increase the average cell throughput and cell-edgethroughput. In multi-point multi-user uplink transmissions, how to suppress co-channelinterference in the base station is vital to the multi-user MIMO detection when multipleusers share the same frequency band. In existing multi-user MIMO detection algorithms, although group interference suppression(GIS) and maximum likelihood detectionapproaches can effectively combat co-channel interference, full diversity gain can notbe obtained and computational complexity is too high for these two algorithms, respectively. To solve the above problems, we propose a joint detection strategy with lowcomplexity which combines group interference suppression, low complexity MIMOdetection and parallel interference cancellation(PIC). For the proposed algorithm, notonly the data from different users can be effectively separated, but also full diversitygain can be obtained. Specifically, by adopting several typical MIMO transmissionmodes, detailed implementation steps of the MIMO detection algorithm are given fornon-cooperative and cooperative multi-point multi-user uplink transmission scenarios, respectively. Moreover, simulation results verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.
