In recent years, driven by the market demands and emerging technologies, wideband wireless communication techniques are becoming hot research subjects. At present, Bluetooth is the mainstream technology employed in WPAN. But the data rates provided by Bluetooth cannot meet the demands of the growing wideband multimedia services. Therefore, it is a necessity to develop new physical layer technologies for short distance high data rate wireless connection with low power consumption and low cost. And Ultra-Wide Band is a novel candidate technology in the short range wideband wireless communication field which called WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network). It has been proved that UWB (ultra-wideband) can support data rates higher than 100Mbits/s, even lGbits/s, within a 10 meters distance and coexist well with existing narrowband wireless systems. As a result, UWB is recognized as the most potential physical layer technology for short distance high speed wireless connections. Moreover UWB impulse radio makes up of ultra-short duration pulses which yield ultra-wideband signals characterized by extremely low power spectral densities and extremely wide frequency band. These systems are potentially immunity to mutipath fading, with a low probability of intercept and low power consumption. Its application in military field is becoming wider and wider because of the abilities to anti-jam, anti-detection and low power consumption. On the other hand, with the development of the technology, wireless positiong service will have very broad prospects in the civilian applications. In those environments such as warehouses, hospitals and some disaster scenes, it will greatly improve the efficiency on freight storage, tracking patients and search-and-rescue...
