As the systematic clock frequency growing higher, signal’s rise time is gettingshorter, and integrated degree of circuit continuously increases. Signal integrityproblems, such as reflection, crosstalk and simultaneous switching noise (SSN), havebecome more and more critical in high-speed PCB (Printed Circuit Board) circuit.Signal integrity problems, especially how to inhibit the SSN, have become the mosturgent problem in high speed system design. This dissertation first introduces the research background and research status of theSSN and expounds the signal integrity theory in high-speed PCB circuit. Then thisdissertation focuses on the method to inhibit the SSN in high speed system. Accordingto the different characteristic of the different period planar Electromagnetic Band-Gap(EBG) structures and the equivalent circuit model of the planar EBG structure, a novelmulti-period planar EBG structure is proposed. The band gap characteristics of the novel EBG structure is simulated by AnsoftHFSS. The simulation results show that stop-band is from0.7GHz to8.4GHz and thebandwidth is7.7GHz at-30dB. Comparing with the traditional large-period planar EBGstructure and the small one, the bandwidth increases by2.2GHz and1.2GHz,respectively. Moreover, the simulation results show that this novel EBG structure can beused to inhibit the SSN effectively and it gives a novel method to broaden thebandwidth of planar EBG structures. Finally, signal integrity is achieved well by thetime-domain simulation.
