With the constant improvement of the social security system, the products in thefield of security have a growing market demand. Video surveillance equipment as oneof the most important products in the field also presents an amazing growth trend.Therefore, designing a front-end image acquisition system of general-purpose, highquality and strong stability must be a hot issue.According to the market demand, this thesis designed and implemented aCCD-based image acquisition system. In the system, the SONY’s area array CCD chipICX274AQF with2.0megapixels was used as an image sensor, and ADI’s AD9923Awas selected for completing CCD timing-driven and analog/digital (A/D) conversion.Additionally, a FPGA chip from XILINX’s XC3S50AN series was selected toimplement the configurationof the AD9923A’s registers and the simulationof I~2C slavedevice communication interface protocol. The system used a FFC connector as anexpansion interface to connect with the back-end digital image processing unit, whichaccomplished an improved general image acquisition system.The test results show that the image acquisition system has characteristics of highresolution, good performance, compatible structure, versatility and bright marketprospects.
