U.S. MIL-STD-188-141B protocol provides a good reference to develop the nextgeneration of our country’s HF adaptive communication system. Basised on theprotocol, the related content about the third generation HF communication data linklayer protocol is mainly discussed in this thesis, the data link layer communicationsoftware is designed and every protocol’s performance is tested.According to the provisions of141B protocol, the graphical user interface of datalink layer communication software, the implementation schemes of Traffic Managementprotocol (for packet data transmission),including the establishment and termination ofthe traffic, and Low-rate Data Link protocol which retransmits by the stop and waitARQ to control errors are all designed in this thesis. Then, according to the schemesdesigned above, the programming and debugging of the software are completed on theplateform of Microsoft Visual C++6.0.The data link layer simulative channel software is also designed here which hasfunctions of channel matching, transmission delay and random error insertion. Thevalidation and test of data link layer communication software are completed by thechannel simulation software. The functions of Automatic Link Establishment, TrafficManagement and point-to-point Low-rate Data transmission are verified. Theperformances of link established time, the rate of successful link establishment, the rateof successful handshake and throughput are tested and analyzed.
