Conformal array antenna is the one that conformed with the surface of the carrier.Its development is closely related with the technology of microwave integrating and thespace. It has been widely used in the areas of personal communication, satellitecommunication and radar detection. This paper aims to analyze the electromagnetic(EM)characteristics of the cylindrical conformal array consisted of dipole elements by usingthe method of moments (MoM). MoM is based on the primary function of theRao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG). The work of the paper makes some sense to theengineering practices.At first, the basic principle of MoM is indroducted and the course of MoM basedon the primary function of RWG is analyzed.Secondly, the scattering characteristic of the rectangular plate is analyzed. In orderto prove the code validated, the calculated results are compared with the ones in thereference. The EM characteristic of the dipole is discussed by MoM based on the RWG.The radiating and scattering characteristics of the dipole in the space and above the plateare researched respectively, which is important to the analysis of the planar arrayantenna.Thirdly, the radiating and scattering characteristics of the planar array antennaconsisted of dipoles are analyzed. By considering the coupling among the elements, theelement patterns and EM parameters are studied and the radiating scanning features ofthe planar array are analyzed, then the scattering case of the planar array is investigatedwhen different loaded impedances are added at the element ports.Finally, the analysis is implemented on the characteristics of the cylindrical array.The effect of the parameter of the cylinder on the dipole and the scatteringcharacteristics of dipole with cylinder are studied. Then the influence of the parasiticelements on the array element is discussed. The radiating scanning and the scatteringcharacteristics of the cylindrical array antennas are researched.
