With the rapid advances in communication and multimedia computingtechnologies, accessing mass amounts of multimedia data is becoming a reality. However, the needs for computerized content characterization of visual informationhave been strongly argued in recent years because of several limitations of the manualannotations and the ambiguous nature of visual information. The Content-based VideoRetrieval(CBRV)technology can exactly meet the needs mentioned above and is a hotresearch topic in recent years, it mainly refers to getting the specific objective retrievalaccording to shot detection and keyframe extraction, feature extraction and objectretrieval ect and the result of the retrieval is not influenced by the personal’s differentunderstandings towards the video.Based on the research and the discussion of CBVR, this paper does research ontechnique of video retrieval system, including structuring video, shot boundarydetection, key-frame selection and feature extraction and matching algorithms. In Chapter3, several key technologies for CBVR have been investigated. firstly wediscuss some shot segmentation methods and study their advantages and shortcomings.Meanwhile we introduce the traditional key-frame extraction methods and the methodsused in this system. Finally audio detection, some scene construction and videoindexing methods has been detailed described and analyzed.According to characteristics of conference, we build a massive database and akeyframe-based video retrieval system which consists of indexing and retrieval modules.Video indexing model includes functions of video structure analysis and featureexaction. Retrieval module is composed of user query interface, matching filter, candidates output, the adjusting feature for feedback and retrieval results. Finally, thevalidity is proved by the results of examination.
