With the development of mobile technology, SMS is entering into the age of2G and3G coexistence. How to improve the reliability, stability and expansibility of SMS center. How to guarantee the SMS is sent to different entities without delay. These are hot issues of current research.Based on studying relevant protocol, software architecture, module division and data processing sub-system of the SMC separately, the main contributions of this paper are as follows:1) Described the semaphore flow of the short message,analysed SMPP and CMPP, also compared the the two protocols above.2) By analyzing the complicated environment which SMC facing currently, divide it into eight independent modules according to software engineering thought:GMSC module, SMPP module, data processing module, spam message processing module, charging module, database module, SMS query/analysis module and operation maintenance module. Through the cooperation among these eight modules, the problems of Interaction between SMC and numerous SMS entities in current network environment can be solved successfuly, the expandability and reliability of the system can also be improved.3) This paper designs and realizes the data processing sub-system of SMC especially, and divides it into MO/MT message processing sub-module, prepayment processing sub-module, and service interface processing sub-module. The MO/MT message processing sub-module describes the calculation of MO/MT, the business processing, the message types, the data coding scheme, etc. The prepayment processing module describes the business processing flow and the relationship with other modules; The service interface processing sub-module discusses the design and implement functions among the four interface modules (I.E interface of GMSC module, interface of charging processing, interface of operation and maintenance module, interface of SMPP module). In the realization step, for the different message entities swap data by means of SOCKET, this paper defines three communication configuration files, by which the SOCKET communication connection is established with other entities, and then the flexibility and reliability of SMC system will be improved. 4) Centre on the designed SMC system, this paper provides some relevant test case designing and performance test.This system has been successfully applied in China mobile network now, and met the design requirements.
