Recent wars since1990’s show that reconnaissance unmanned air vehicle (UAV) technology, as one of main technologies used in high-tech modern war, has become an important approach for information acquisition and integrated space-ground operations. With its so much equipment types, high-tech characteristics and high field damage probability, the operation effectiveness of reconnaissance UAV depends highly on detection and maintenance, automatic detection and fault diagnosis have become an important approach to improve equipment readiness and guarantee operation sustainability.This paper describes design and implementation methods of a automatic detection and maintenance system for UAV, which is valuable for the promotion of auto test and troubleshooting techniques in UAV. This system, based on a common architecture for common auto-test equipment and configured with hardware, such as special test device, common test instruments and switches, if necessary, and application software for test and diagnosis, constitutes a automa detection system suitable for various UAVs.
