MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) is an important imaging quality indicator of optical system. Since MTF substituting the traditional criteria as a modern standard to evaluate optical imaging systems, it had been used in various fields. With the rapid development of computer technology and photoelectric detection devices, the research of MTF had been continuous, and instruments used for testing MTF had been developed in home and abroad. But most of those instruments are expensive and complicated, do not fit for evaluating imaging quality of plenty of lenses. Therefore it is necessary to develop a MTF testing system which has low cost, simple structure, but high precision, high stability to evaluating imaging quality of plenty of lenses.Through a lot of research in MTF measurement technology, this thesis elaborates hardware components and software achievement of MTF testing system we developed. In addition, this thesis basing on the principles of the automatic focusing, and giving consideration to efficiency and precision, develops an automatic focusing system adapted to MTF testing system.Finally, a lot of experimental data indicates the MTF testing system has high stability. Besides, this thesis analyzes different elements give rise to systematic errors.
