As the development of optoelectronic technology and digital communicationtechnology, optical fiber transmission technology is widely applied in engineeringpractice of photo-detection. This paper analyzes relevant technology in optical fibercommunication and high-speed data transmission fields, and then investigates theactuality and development trend both here and abroad. Thereafter a high-speed andlarge-capacity optical fiber data transmission interface is designed and realized basedon a FPGA platform and Camera Link standard according to customized requirements.The work of this paper are described as follow:Firstly, based on the analysis of the requirements of the transmission system, theoverall architecture is built.Secondly, the design and implementation of the hardware is completed. And thedesign of the module is introduced in detail. PCB design is optimized according to thetheoretical analysis of the jitter, reflection, crosstalk, attenuation as well as otherfactors which impacts on the signal integrity of the high-speed channel. The key link ofthe system is simulated by the Hyperlynx. The quality of the signal is improved and theBER is reduced by modifying the design according to the simulation results.Thirdly, based on the platform of FPGA, the software of the system is designedwith the VHDL language. The key function module including the interface buffer,clock management, parallel data converting, transmission control logic, configurationof RocketIO GTP, image data alignment and the main controller are introduced indetail. And the software modules are simulated by Modelsim.In the end, according to the software and hardware design of the system, testingenvironment is built and testing method is given. The transmission speed, bit error rateand real-time performance of the fiber transmission interface are tested. High-speedcamera is used in the test, and the quality of the recovered image is evaluated. Testingresults show that the optical fiber data interface satisfies the technology target and realize the designed requirements.
