The three-dimensional video is a highly active area of research today.As a is a multimedia that contains more information and more data volume,the three-dimensional video provides strong feelings of three-dimensionand depth. Three dimensional video is now causing more and more concernand more and more researchers at home and abroad are dedicating on theresearch of three-dimensional video.3D TV program productiontechnology is the most one to become the next generation of TV programsproduction technology.The purpose of the project is to design and implement a3D videosynthesis box based on FPGA. The main functions of3D video synthesisbox are synchronization of two input videos,3D video synthesis and thereal time horizontal flip of the input video. Side-by-side, top-and-down andanaglyphs. In a side-by-side format video, left half video data of thesynthesis video comes from the left eye video, and the right half comesfrom the right one, the optimized implementation method reduce thememory utilization from9.98MB to16KB, eliminate delay from40ms to0.01ms; in top-and-bottom format, top half video data of the synthesisvideo comes from the left eye video, and the bottom half comes the rightone, we have implemented a continuous read/write DDRSDRAMcontroller, support non-interrupted read/write method and is very suitablefor video process on FPGA; in a anaglyphs format, red component of thesynthesis video comes from the left eye video and the green, bluecomponents of the synthesis video comes from the right eye video. Wehave implemented RGB spatial data and YCbCr space data conversion functions on FPGA, which can process96million pixels per second. Wehave two ways to synchronize two input videos, they are genlock basedplan and internal DDRSRAM synchronization plan. Optional highdefinition video real time horizontal flip is supported. We find that genlockbased synchronization plan can’t ensure the two input video are strictlysynchronized since the transmitting paths are different. I have come upwith a synchronization plan to resolve this problem in the article.The experiment results show that the3D TV synthesis box plays animportant role in a stereoscopic video acquisition system. It can implement3D video data synchronization, real time input high definition videohorizontal flip and the3D video synthesis. The design and implementationof the3D video synthesis box meet the design purpose.
