Currently, disaster recovery has been gradually valued by various enterprises andorganizations. Though many enterprises have established or are establishing their owndisaster recovery plans, there are many problems in testing these plans. Nearly half of thetests have failed, and the high frequency of faults of disaster discovery puts enterprises intogreater risks. Even though most enterprises express that they have carried out effective teststo their disaster recovery plans, the test plan and assessment of possibility and influence arestill not comprehensive, which result in many problems in the actual efficiency of input. Thus,it would be particularly important to have effective test of disaster recovery plans.The most efficient testing method for disaster recovery at present is direct switch, while,for a process which lacks the true evolution of disaster occurrence and development, it is notcomprehensive and meticulous enough to test the disaster recovery plan. In this dissertation, adisaster simulator was designed by simulating the impacts of fire, earthquake and computervirus on the information system for reaching the objective of testing the disaster recoveryplan. To test a disaster recovery plan with the disaster simulator is more direct, real,comprehensive and meticulous, and more advanced than the current direct switch method.Firstly, use tools to obtain the LAN IP address, and select nodes to perform simulation;utilize FLEX technology to simulate the disaster evolution course, and dynamically simulatethe time and space effects of disaster spread; make use of net, schtasks, and other DOSstatements to make a remote connection to the target nodes, and copy the simulate programs; remotely execute the simulate program on target nodes to make an simulation, based onwhich the impact of disaster on the information system is simulated. The main research effortof this dissertation is to simulate the occurrence and development of disaster and its impactson the information system, namely, simulating the course of system error malignanttransformation and system breakdown, in which, error means that the result calculated by thesystem is not quite right; malignant transformation means the system behavior is completelyrandom; and breakdown means the system has stopped. The purpose in the dissertation is tobe achieved through some bat files, VBScript source programs and reformed and recoverablevirus-source programs.Nowadays, the academia and the industrial community have paid sufficient attention todisaster recovery, and profound research has been made in this respect, which provides shieldfor system support. This dissertation is a spear to study and test the shield, belonging to thedomain of disaster virtualization technologies. Disaster virtualization is an emergingcomponent of virtualization technologies in the field of present information technologies.Virtualization technology has two meanings: firstly, it refers to varieties of man-made andnatural disasters, namely, various disasters that pose threats to the information system werevirtualized into a kind of disaster, and thus attention could be focused on the influenceprocess and mechanism of disaster on the information system, by which the analysis andjudgment of disaster could be simplified. Secondly, it refers to various means of disasterresponse were virtualized into a standard flow, with each link interdependent and convertibleto another, thereby implementing the highest level of disaster response. The fundamentalpurpose that disaster virtualization shall reach is to integrate different disasters into acommon integrated model.To better cope with the disaster and promote the constructive property and normalizationof disaster response, there is an urgent need for us to conduct research on disastervirtualization. The dissertation has done some research in this regard through simulation offire, earthquake and computer virus, and this direction is bound to be an emerging andvaluable research orientation.
