With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, spectrum resourcebecomes more and more intense, in order to meet the rapid growth number of users,researchers put forward broadband, multi-band solutions. Therefore to antenna that used inwireless communication system is presented the broadband, multi-band, miniaturizationrequirement. Microstrip antenna with its thin profile, light weight, small volume, easyintegration and other advantages, is widely used in the wireless communication system. Thispaper will study.in how to achieve the dual band microstrip antenna work.This article is divided into three parts. The first part consists of the chapter one and thechapter two, and this part mainly generalizes the research background and significance ofmicrostrip antennas, and the operating principle and analysis methods of the microstripantennas. The chapter three is the second Part, which mainly introduces the designing workof the three single-frequency microstrip antenna through theoretical analysis. The third partsummarizes the achieving approach of dual-frequency antenna by the microstrip antenna,and designs several of dual-frequency microstrip antennas with novel structure.The paper firstly introduces the study background and significance of the microstripantenna, then study the working principle of microstrip antennas, and makes a systematicstudy of microstrip antenna analysis methods (The cavity model method and finite timedomain difference method). It can be better to understand the work principle of microstripantennas through the study.Then the paper analysises and designs the rectangular microstrip antenna, Inverted-Fantenna operating in2.4GHz and the PIFA antenna operating in900MHz by using thetransmission line model method. And simulating the antenna designed using the popularHFSS RF software in this stage. As well as studying the influence of antenna radiationcharacteristic caused by the various structural parameters of the microstrip antenna usingHFSS software.Finally, the paper introduces the several implementation methods of the currentdual-frequency work of microstrip antenna for the details, and proposes a variety ofinnovative design program for the dual-frequency work of the PIFA antenna. Since the same design principle, the paper only describes one design method of the programs in the detail.The program firstly slots to process PIFA antenna, then through simulating and verifying, it isknown that the antenna operates in two frequency bands,one is GSM900and the other isDCS1800, the resonant frequency of the low frequency band is900MHz, and the highfrequency band is1800MHz, the relative bandwidth is respectively24.5%and7.89%,which can meet the design requirements. Finally the paper designs the dual-frequencymonopole antenna applied in WLAN. The resonant frequency is respectively2.45GHz in thelow-frequency part and5.42GHz in the high frequency part, the relative bandwidth isrespectively25%and40.4%. Finally the designed antenna is in line with the designrequirements through optimization and analysis.
