In coal production, there are catastrophic gas explosion accidents happened every year,causing great losses of life and property, Therefore, the voice of safety production in coalmine also becomes increasingly strong. In order to avoid accidents, undergroundenvironmental parameters of coal mine must be detected in advance to improve the earlywarning. At present, most of the gas detection equipments available in the market are testingon kinds of gas with certain concentration, whose performance is single. If you want to testmultiple parameters, more testing equipments are needed to work at the same time. As a result,the cost is increased, and the equipment is inconvenient to be used. So instrumentation candetect various kinds of parameters of the instruments at the same time is needed, as well toimprove efficiency and reduce cost. The portable multi-parameter detector of mine researchedis to meet this need.This system mainly detects the gas concentration of CH4, CO, H2S and O2and theenvironment temperature humidity and so on six parameters. And FPGA was based on as themain processor, with high stability of the electrochemical gas sensors together to make up thecore technology, and the temperature and humidity of temperature and humidity sensors’aided measuring environments were increased. What’s more, temperature compensationalgorithm based on electrochemical gas sensors was studied, and the algorithm was used tocorrect and compensate for the temperature drift of gas sensors. Through the analysis of themixed gas concentration, the system will automatically give out sound and light alarm oncemixed gas concentration beyond alert threshold. The main modules of the instrument includegas sensor, temperature and humidity sensor, sensor signal regulate circuit, A/D conversionmodule, FPGA core processor, LCD display module, the keyboard control module, alarmmodule, the power modules, data storage module, etc.In this paper, the system hardware design is introduced in detail, and electroniccomponents are selected carefully according to system design requirements of high precisionand low power consumption. Then hardware circuits for each module are dedicated andanalyzed. Finally, the system is tested through experiment, and with the analysis of test results,especially the theoretically analysis for systematic errors, the basic functions of detector arevalidated. Although the test result may be with some error, it does not affect the overallfunction of the instrument. In the end, that the existing system deficiencies are pointed out,and the direction for further research is pointed out as well.
