Laser scanner is the key component of LIDAR(Light Detection And Ranging) system.The performance of a laser scanner directly depends on its driving circuit. As a result,designing robust driving circuit is one of the critical issues of laser scanner. The authordesigns driving circuit for laser scanner based on FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array).The main research work is as follows:(1)The author introduces the structure and operational principle of FPGA. Throughanalyzing the performance requirements of laser scanner, the author designs the laserscanner driving system structure. According to the requirement of laser scanner, the authoruses FPGA as the main control chip.(2)The modules of the driving circuit are designed in this paper. The driving circuitincludes ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter)/DAC(Digital-to-Analog Converter) module,power supply module, FPGA and its configuration circuit. For designing the printedcircuit board, specific power layer and ground layer have been made to ensure the circuitoperating normally without electromagnetic interference.(3)The system software design has been made in FPGA based on VerilogHDL(Hardware Description Language). Specifically, the timing sequence of ADC andDAC module is realized through the method of finite state machine. The timing waveprofile has been simulated by the FPGA development software.The simulation result iscoincident with the given datasheet.(4)Finally, through testing the driving circuit with other modules of laser scanner,the author has proved that the driving circuit can be applied in the laser scanner.
