Internet Certification Service for Disc(DCS), a realization of Internet CertificationSystem(ICS) idea, provides Red-ray HD player one service that applying key aftercertificating player-id/password and charging by playing times. Based on that,Extensional Internet Certification Service (EICS) was designed to be a more powerful ICSserver.EICS is designed as a service framework for network applications, such as DCS.Under its help, developers will surely invoke in how the application works, but leavingother functions to EICS server. On design philosophy, with the idea of modularization,Function of the server is divided into modules, like server-manager, session-manager,certification-manager, application-manager etc. On event handling and applicationmanagement, Reactor Pattern is used to support higher concurrent and more applications. As for Implementation, First, clear concept of ICS and analysis of DCS are given.Based on that, requirements of function and performance of EICS are presented. Then theserver framework is designed and divided into the several functional modules. The third, protocol named EICS protocol is defined, and implementation of some modules,server-manager, session-manager, certification-manager, application-manager, areprovided. In the end, DCS following the EICS protocol and Application Design Protocol isdeveloped.Test in function is given by providing EICS-DCS service to client. Measurement inperformance is processed by recording the average service response time for EICS-DCSand ICS-DCS in concurrent environment. The result illustrates that EICS server takes lessresponse time in high concurrent environment. The expected designing goal has beenachieved.
