The object whose temperature over absolute zero can radiate infrared ray, the technology ofinfrared thermal imaging can distinguish and display the relative radiation temperature of thetarget object to the background. Therefore, it has been widely applied in the fields of civil,industry, electric power, security, medical, military and so on.Relative to the visible light image, infrared image usually present more limitations, forexample, the effects of fuzzy edges and blurred display as well as not obvious contraction. So itis necessary for the economic, effective processing algorithm to be adopted in the infraredthermal imaging system.To address the issue, this paper develop the enhancement algorithms of infrared image andrealize in real-time by the hardware, The main contents are as followings:(1) We improve thehistogram equalization algorithm to an adaptive equalization algorithm based on the method ofmaximum between-cluster variance to obtain more obvious contraction;(2) We improve Laplacesharpening algorithm to be adaptive in order to get higher resolution;(3) We use median filter,mean filter and Gaussian filter to get rid of noise.(4) We use pseudo color transformation toprocess the infrared image after equalization, therefore the infrared image can show with acolorful manner, available to human visual habit.The issue uses a digital signal processor TMS320C642as the hardware processing core andcompletes the real-time realization of color image after analysis. Firstly, the C codes are writtenand debugged in the CCS. Then, they are loaded to DSP. Through the emulator TDS510, USB2.0interface, the communication between DSP and PC is finished and the real-time realization ofinfrared image processing algorithms is completed finally.The results show that TDS510and USB2.0establish the communication betweenTMS320C642and PC successfully. So that the algorithms of the histogram equalization andpseudo color transformation processing are realized, and better figures with high contraction,high resolution and visual effect can be observable.
