Along with the rapid development of science and technology, the socialinformatization degree is also increasingly improving, where we all want means ofsecure and reliable exchange of information, thus has a rising requirements towardswireless communication. In recent years, cooperative communications technology isundoubtedly one of the hottest research topics. In wireless communications, multipath fading and interference has a very largeimpact on the transmission rate and quality. Cooperative diversity is an effectivemethod to combat the multipath fading. Cooperative diversity is a virtualmulti-antenna technology. By sharing the antenna between multiple users and othernetwork resources, cooperative diversity can form virtual multi-antenna array andobtain spatial diversity gain through the distributional cooperation. In this paper, wefirstly introduce the basic principles of cooperative diversity, methods of cooperativediversity, system model and the working procedure. Secondly, we propose a codedcooperation partner selection strategy for a single-level network and multi-levelnetwork models and analysis of the outage probability of the system. Finally, wepresent the advantages and disadvantages of the system.
