Laser engraving has gradually replaced the traditional mechanical and manual sculpturefor its unique advantage, and its application range has been greatly expanded. There is agood development of2-D marking,3-D inside engraving, but it is reported rarely that3Ddeep carving is done. This paper solved the problem of construction algorithm in3-D Textfor laser3D engraving. We put forward a3D text construction algorithm with adjustableslope. And the algorithm is improved base on the performance and complexity. The mainwork in this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) Put forward the solution of3D text constructing algorithm base on the basiccharacteristics of laser engraving and the relationship between3-D and2-D text.(2) A kind of3D text constructing algorithm base on the mapping of skeleton points isproposed to solve the two problems of the distortion of the3-D text and the steep changededge, and the slope can be changed for the use of mapping function. An algorithm base onthe mapping of edge points is designed to get the3-D text with different depth, and the effectis the same as manual sculpture. And then the two method mentioned above are combined inthe paper, and the mixed method can achieve very good result.(3) To solve the burr problem in the3-D text, on the one hand, we put forward4criterion based on the characteristics of the3-D text, and an iterative algorithm is designedaccompany, on the other hand the low pass filter is used in place of the traditional NURBSsurface reconstruction.(4) Adopting3D deep carving equipment self-developed by our laboratory, build the3Dcarving platform. Experiment on the aluminum material, stone material and so on.
