With the rapid development of information technology and the popularity of digitaltechnology, the requirements of high reliability and high bandwidth further promote thedevelopment of storage technology. Traditional RAID (Redundant Arrays of InexpensiveDisks) brings high bandwidth and also protects data loss from disk hardware failure, butalways suffers the risk of data corruption caused by operational errors and virus attacks. That how to recovery accurately to pre-damaged state and ensure the high bandwidthbecomes the focus of research. On basis of the analysis of fault-tolerant RAID storage systems, WPOT (WritePerformance Optimization based on TRAP-4) system has been proposed and implemented.According to RAID4/5parity and the relevance of continuous data protection redundancydata, reducing the number of disk I/O access when writing by suspending RAIDcalibration updates to improve system performance.Based on the RAID module framework in Linux kernel system, WPOT prototypesystem was achieved. Professional test tools was employed for TRAP-4, RAID5andWPOT performance result under different workload, and compared recovery time betweenTRAP-4and WPOT when disk failed. Test results show the write performance of WPOTis higher than TRAP-4and RAID5, especially on the intensive workload of small datarandom write request,50%reduction compared with TRAP-4and48%with RAID5aboutaverage response time, but disk failure recovery time is a little more and TRAP-4, anincrease of10%.
