With the deployment of a large number of database information system, thephysical design of the database becomes very important, the rational design ofdatabase systems can improve system performance, reduce maintenance pressure, andimprove the high availability of information systems. The increasing of amount ofdata and the large amount of concurrent multi-user access make the database physicaldesign and optimization become an important part of information system design.This paper studies the method of optimization and physical design of OracleDatabase. Firstly, we analyze the process of data access and how to optimize dataaccess,index method supported by Oracle Database, partition type, materialized view,backup compression, DataGuard and ASM storage technology. Then analyze aspecific physical database designing requirement of an information system. Theserequirements including Oracle Optimization, security and reliability, big tables,distributed data search, multiuser commit, design index, data protection requirement.At last, we realize physical database designing Optimization from six aspects. the sixaspects include balance disk I/O and reduce disk I/O, configure parameter of Oracledatabase, design index, create materialized view, utilize partition technology, designdatabase compression backup with RMAN and implement physical DataGuard.
