This paper based on the manual management mode of pipeline steel weldingprocedure of the enterprise, using Windows XP as operation platform, Viusal Basic6.0asdevelopment language, Access as backend database, to build pipeline steel weldingprocedure database management system which is appropriate for the enterprise. This studyshows that the established pipeline steel welding procedure database management systemcan realize this enterprise’s computer-management of welding procedure specification,welding procedure qualification report, welding procedure instruction, and other importantprocedure documents, which changed the traditional manual welding proceduremanagement mode, thus great improved the welder’s work efficiency.The system can be completed on the scientific management, update, delete, add,printing and other operations to some welding process data. The system can also bequeried according to different needs of single-related conditions or combination ofconditions of welding procedure specification, welding procedure qualification report,welding procedure instruction, and other major procedure documents. Especially, thesystem can be realized on the "intelligence" query of "material substitution and "thicknesscladding principle.In the database management system, the welding joint mechanical propertyforecasting subsystem of pipeline steel is established. The process of establishing theprediction model of that is as follows: input parameters of network included t8/5and thechemical components of the pipeline steel, such as C, Si, P, S, and so on. Three-layerneural network configuration including input layer, hidden layer and output layer wasselected. The back-propagation learning algorithm was selected as the core algorithm andthe unipolar S-type function was selected as the activation function. The welding jointmechanical property forecasting model is successful established in which outputparameters of network were the breaking strength,yield strength, elongation, impact energyand reduction of cross sectional area of the welded joints. This model can be applied topredict the mechanical properties of the pipeline steel welded joints, which can lay a solidfoundation for the prediction of whole welding procedure afterwards.The applications of pipeline steel welding procedure database management systemcan change the traditional methods of welding procedure management, can effectivelyreduce the workload of welding procedure management, and can improve work efficiency and production. The implementation of the system can carry out scientific and intelligentmanagement of the pipeline steel welding procedure. It has a higher degree practical value.
