Controlled distortion fisheye lens is a kind of new lens, which appliescontrolled distortion theory was applied to the optical design process. Manychallenging digital imaging system can enhance their imaging capability bymanaging the distortion, which can be modeled as a free function. As a result, aspecialist can design a new variety of optical system in order to expand the use ofdigital imaging systems. This dissertation focuses on the study of calibration andimage correction for controlled distortion fisheye lens.The main work of this dissertation is as follows:1) Oval panoramic lens for the use of video surveillance is a kind of controlleddistortion fisheye ones. An omni-directional visual geometric imaging method anda B-spline curve is used to model of the lens. A radial angle calibration board isused to calibrate the lens.2) A general method is studied to model and calibrate of controlled distortionfisheye lens. A mixed distortion function model is proposed, and a B-spline surfaceis used to do the interpolation. Finally, a pentahedral three-dimensional calibrationplate is used to achieve camera calibration.3) Based on the above work, the distortion of the fisheye image is to becorrected. Using the optical center transfer algorithm, multi-viewpoint perspectiveroaming effect is achieved. Furthermore, this algorithm achieved real-timeefficiency by the use of CPU multi-core parallelism and graphics rendering method.The experimental results show that the effectiveness and efficiency of imagecorrection can meet the actual video surveillance requirements.4) At last, a video surveillance software system is designed utilizing of ovalpanoramic lens, and it has been put into the application market by the company.
