Integrated navigation system(INS) is the core system on board. It plays a very importantrole in recent years. With the development of modern computer, the integrated navigationsystem develpes faster and faster. The functions INS gradually improves, and this greatlyincreases the degree of automation of marine onboard systems. Therefore the development ofthe interconnection and interoperability between the INS and other onboard systems demandthe integrated navigation system to increase its real-time information exchange andreliability.To the maximize extent of real-time performance of integrated navigation system and itsreliability, this paper proposed using real-time network transmission technology in thecommunication in navigation system, and make use of reflective memory networkarchitecture to realize this integrated navigation system. The entire communication networkuses CAN bus network to receive a variety of sensor informations which send navigationinformation. The Gigabit Ethernet backbone network is used to implement the integratednavigation system for data exchange with other systems, because of its strong versatility.Firstly, by accessing to all relevant information about the background and thedevelopment of an integrated navigation system and its various stages of communication,the analysis of integrated navigation system is presented. This gives a more detaileddescription and analysis of the Reflective memory network on its current application area.By comparing CAN bus and Gigabit Ethernet networks on both advantages and disadvantages,a brief history of its development are described in detail.Secondly, the brief discussion on real-time network transmission technology andreal-time network is given. A detailed research about reflective memory network works, boardconstruction, installation, configuration registers, and environmental structures is proposed.And the actual situation of the reflective memory network applications in integratednavigation system is designed. The design gives the overall communication networkarchitecture, and specificly proposed effective solution to data communication in a variety ofproblems.Based on reflective memory in the application of integrated navigation system, thespecific application layer protocols is developed. In order to use these protocols in navigation,a specific software implementation on communication initialization, register configuration,send and receive parameter setting and receiving process is given.Finally,real-time testing for the entire communications network is done to test the reliability and realtime performance. Using Tilcon and VB for simulator interface make thetest results more intuitive and accurate.
