According to the requirement of the domestic high-power laser processing system, a high-power all-solid-state laser is reported in this paper, the maximum output power of the laser is670W with beam parameter product is less than30mm·mrad, and the total electro-optics efficiency is as high as16.4%. Base on the principle of laser, four-level system rate equations theory is analyzed in the paper. The work threshold, maximum output power and total efficiency of laser are discussed. The produce principle and harm of laser thermal effects are expressed, and the internal temperature distribution and stress distribution rule of crystals are obtained from the systematically analysis and computation of laser thermal effects. Secondly, the component units of the laser are designed, including the optimal design of the laser crystal, the selection of the pump mode, the research on the gain distribution within the laser crystal, and the cavity design. Finally, the experiment research of the laser system is designed, and combined with the actual work requirements, some parameters of the laser is optimized to make sure the laser operation stability.
