In today’s society, safety is one of the common concerns for people. Since the911event, safety problems are more attention by people. Security issues including:the property security, personal security, information security, etc. Recently developeda face recognition technology, it can be used in video conference, face search,important department in fields such as gateway control to reduce the security hiddendanger.Face recognition technology is a kind of biological recognition technology,appeared in the fingerprint identification, iris recognition and voice recognition andother biological recognition technology after, because its are convenient, economy,people with common recognition mode advantage, draws more and more attention.FPGA is field programmable gates array, its high-speed image processing area ina wide range of applications,the design cycle is short, relatively low cost ASIC, usingthe FPGA design electronic products has become a trend.This paper describe in detail the face recognition theoretical knowledge and facerecognition for the advantage of access control system, and designs a face recognitionbased on FPGA entrance guard system. In the hardware, this system mainly by the:FPGA, camera, video decoder, SD card, SDRAM, display interface, electricity lockcircuit etc. Among them is mainly used to handle FPGA face recognition of thealgorithm and realize the other logic function; A camera is collecting face image; Withthe SD card to provide data storage space face; SDRAM to store camera collection toface image data; The display is a human face image shows; Electricity lock circuit isto use a boost chip put the matching result by FPGA output (on/off) converted into12V voltage transfer to electricity lock device.Face recognition process are divided into face detection, pretreatment, facepositioning, facial feature extraction and features processing, face match. Facialimage detection method of the static image face detection methods; Feature extraction and features treatment is the difficulty of face recognition system algorithm, thispaper USES the Principal components Analysis (Principal Component Analysis, PCA)method of feature extraction and processing.PCA is a master of the main contradiction things statistical analysis method, itcan draw out the main factors of influence multiple things, from influencing thenature of things start to analyze problems,the complex problem is simplified.
