The rapid development of computer network technology and multimediatechnology has greatly improved the communication technology ofintegration、digitalization、intellectualization and personalization to a largeextent, which makes it possible to realize integrated services of audio、data、graphics etc. on a single network platform. Therefore, under such abackground, the IP telephone, which integrates network technology andmultimedia technology, was appeared and make fast development, now it hasbecome a strong competitor in the field of audio communication. IP telephonemainly using packet switching technology,with some advantages of improvingthe efficiency of the channel, lowering the communication cost, realizingmuch of value-added services and integrating with the multimedia technology,it is these advantages that makes the IP telephone in a favorable position in thefield of communication and has a broad prospects for development. However,an obvious drawback of the IP telephony is the poor voice quality, the keyfactor is the echo, almost all conversations are conducted in the presence ofecho, a commonly adopted approach to deal with the problem brought byacoustic echoes in speech communication is to apply adaptive echocancellation algorithm.In this paper, on the basis of taking the various existing adaptive echocancellation algorithm into account and the full study, also on acomprehensive balanced of the computational efficiency and the amount ofcomputation、convergence speed and convergence performance、difficulty ofthe basic structure and numerical robustness an so on, combined the availableresources of the actual system and the expected effect, proposed a newimproved algorithm, and compared the new algorithm with the LMS—Newtonalgorithm which has good performance. By using experiments to verify thenew algorithm in the aspects of convergence performance and stability, has alot of advantages and improvements, overcome the deficiencies of thetraditional algorithm, achieved the expected effects in some important aspects.Finally, the computer simulation results show that the new algorithm has adistinct advantage in the convergence performance, can improve the convergence performance, make the quality of the converse better, has a goodeffect in the aspects of echo cancellation.
