In terms of national security or the national economy, WSNs has a broadapplication prospect. As a hot research topic in WSNs, acoustic sourcelocalization is with extremely important value in both military and civilian fields.This paper studied and designed a kind of localization system of acoustic sourcebased on sound energy loss model, using the VSPSA algorithm to estimate thelocation of the acoustic source, and designed the sensor nodes for the collection ofthe sound intensity. Compared with the location method based on the timedifference, the method of acoustic source localization proposed in this paper doesnot require precise time synchronization; Compared with the location method basedon the steerable-beam-forming, the method of acoustic source localization proposedin this paper does not need a high cost, what it needs just is the energy informationof the acoustic source collected through the sensor nodes, the algorithm canestimate the location of the acoustic source quickly and accurately.In this paper, the main content and innovations as follows:(1) This paper researched the acoustic source localization algorithm, andproposed the new localization algorithm based on VSPSA. Firstly, this paper madea detailed comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of different acousticsource localization techniques, then analyzed the characteristics of the sound’spropagation and the sound energy loss model, and proposed VSPSA algorithm toestimate the location of the acoustic source introduced the island model withpriority. This paper made a large number of simulations based on the platform ofMATLAB and compared with the classic EM algorithm to prove the proposedalgorithm based on VSPSA to solve the problem of localization of the acousticsource was feasible.(2) This paper designed the sensor node for capturing the acoustic intensity andbuilt the system of the acoustic source localization based on VSPSA algorithm.This paper designed the sensor nodes to collect the sound intensity with themicrocontroller of ATmegal128to coordinate the different functional modules,using the CC1000RF-module for wireless communication, using CSMA/CA agreement to allocate the channels. Finally, the proposed system of acoustic sourcelocalization in this paper was tested in a real environment. There were two sets ofexperiments which was the static positioning and dynamic tracking of the acousticsource. The results demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of the systemproposed in this paper.
