The emergence of multi-axis CNC lathe machine, has altered in the past the irregularcomplex curved surface parts by hand polishing or nc-copy machining, greatly improvedproduction efficiency and precision,has been widely used in industry. Because of thecomplicated shape of the complex surface parts, such as the side surface ships, automobilecover board, it’s difficult to use mathematical methods accurately describing surface type,the cutting and welding of processing track is difficult to determine in the process ofproduction. In this kind of situation, teaching-programming is often adopted to processtrajectory in advance, and finally to complete a CNC processing, but this way existcomplex operation, long processing cycle and some other deficiencies. In order to solvethese problems irregular surface processing track is difficult to determine and the efficiencyof teaching-programming is low,the paper sees assemble this large containment elipsoidhead piece of the cutting process and automobile cover board splicing process as anexample, to study irregular surfaces parts processing track information extraction ofautomatic programming system. In Windows system environment, this automaticprogramming system based on Visual C++6.0software platform, to programme usingfurther development tool named UG/Open API that was owned by UG to interface withVC++.In the system development process, according to the background for the topic carrys onneeds analysis, complete the whole structure design and the system function modularprocessing, then for each module to realize the task demands and the related key technologyfor the detailed analysis, complete the specific design work.In this paper, according to the characteristics of the environment UG software, putsforward the method for all kinds of CAD model file into the software environment, andexplains the surface model in UG environment in various parameterized representation.Onthe basis of the surface parametric processing, using UG/Open API programming, completesurface model positioning, extract curved surface boundary or entity on the correspondingpoints information, complete the processing of the data information extraction of thesurface.In the system, to a certain type of head piece as an example, carries on the systemimplementation demonstration, and analysis of relevant data to assess the accuracy andeffectiveness of the system.According to the composition of surface irregular surface entity, put forward the method for the surface in the process of joining together transition surface generation and itsmathematical explanation, use of relevant API functions to complete the irregular surfacecontour information extracted entity as a whole.In the process of the programming, using UG provide second development tools tofinish programming system interface and function menu design, selection and variousparameters for surface adjustment, reflect the human nature in the design requirements.Finally, surface model extracted information of the automatic programming system isused to five axis CNC cutting robot’s actual processing, according to the results we assessthe system has the processing of generality, accuracy, high efficiency.
