The atmospheric laser communication is a means of communication with the light wave as a carrier and the atmosphere as a channel for voice, data, image and other information transmission, which is a key research of laser communication field in the future. Laser communication has the advantages of wide communication band, big optical gain, strong anti-interference ability interception, low power consumption, and it becomes a new communications technology of current concern, communication will be even greater developed in the future. As the atmospheric laser communication is the channel for the atmospheric random channel, it will be largely reduced in the process of transformation and subject to atmospheric attenuation, atmospheric turbulence, background light and a series of factors, which affect the laser communications transmission, making the communication quality greatly reduced. So we need to in-depth study the impact of atmosphere’s characteristics on laser communication and propose the methods to improve communication quality.The main contents of this paper are as follows:analyzing the main forms and composition of the atmosphere, and in-depth study the impact of atmospheric laser communication from three aspects:1) atmospheric scattering, absorption and attenuation of light energy caused by the refraction of light energy, that is, the atmospheric attenuation of laser communication effects;2) light intensity fluctuations, beam drift, the impact of broadening caused by atmospheric turbulence on the laser communication;3) in the context of bright light, the interference of background light on communication. Based on the above analysis of the factors affecting communication, this paper will adopt Optisystem and Glad were on software to carry out the simulation analysis on the air channel attenuation, atmospheric turbulence effects on the receiver spot, and error ratio, and obtain some methods to improve the atmosphere communication through simulation, which has a certain value for the future research.
