Modern medical imaging is widely used in clinical practices in showing pathological information with images. Though Type-B Ultrasound is a typical representative in this field, is more widely used in clinical practices. It performs with a worst image quality. Thus it is important to improve the image quality of the Type-B Ultrasound for a better judgment in diagnosing.Several image enhancing algorithms for the Type-B Ultrasound were discussed in this paper and special efforts were made in terms of wavelet analysis and fuzzy. Relevant algorithms and programs were developed from its basic theory and the algorithms were tested in enhancing the same image through the powerful software MATLAB. Results showed that wavelet-based unsharp mask method and the improved fuzzy enhancement algorithm based on gray-level were effective in enhancing Type-B Ultrasound images. Threshold selecting algorithm added in the fuzzy enhancing application could meet different requires in clinical practices by significantly simplifying the enhancing process. Tests showed that the enhancing methods proposed in this paper were effective in clinical services.
