Ticket process unit (TPU) is the core component of the automatic fare collection system (AFC), and has played an important role in the ticket issue, ticket check, recharge, update and other work. The speed and accuracy of ticket process will directly affect the operation of the whole system. TPU of Tianjin Subway Line2AFC system is designed base on "AFC technical standards of Tianjin subway", combined with the requirement of the system, using Microsoft Visual C++6.0as a development tool. After single test, system debugging and network test, TPU has been used in Tianjin Subway Line2.Through a successful example, we know the TPU’s basic function and feedback data, communication timing between TPU and station locale equipment (SLE), the key points and difficulties in software design. First, we analyse the current situation of TPU used in the operated subway, finding out significant of the software design. Secondly, using the object-oriented analysis method, we carry on the demand analysis and the technology selection for Tianjin Subway Line2’s AFC system. The TPU will be divided into several subsystems, each subsystem is a function of TPU. Summarizing all kinds of founctions in this paper, we find out the correlation between them. At last, we find out how to deal with the difficult problem in software realization after analysis, sum up the software design process and achievements, prospecting for the future development of TPU.Design and implementation of the software realize all important founctions of AFC system include ticket selling, ticket check, and recharge. The software make TPU work normaly after Tianjin subway line2is operating, enriching the work experience of developers in AFC field.
