The Modular Mobile Communication Product Design Research For The Elderly

With the rapid development of information society, the mobile communication product has become an important part in today’s society. At the same time, the phenomenon of aging leads to the elderly for a increasing proportion of social groups, but the elderly have their own special physiological and psychological characteristics, which lead to their marginalized by the high-tech. At home and abroad, the older groups’ study in the construction field has been the formation of a wealth of research results, but the mobile communication products’ research and design for the elderly is limited. In the mobile communication market, more and more mobile style and fashionable design, but designed specifically for the elderly is seldom. This paper is a study based on this background, through asking the problem with the help of investigation, then analyzing and solving problems, based on the theory of modular design combining qualitative and quantitative research methods, to explore all aspects of the mobile communication products for the old people.This paper analyzes the background, purpose and meaning of the elderly mobile communication products based on the modular theory, investigates the modular theory, the elderly characteristics and the current situation of mobile communications products, and carries out the field research of the elderly demand for mobile communications. Through user interviews and questionnaire survey, the problems of old people in the use of mobile communication products are found, the demand points of old people for mobile communications products are obtained, and The paper makes the demand points corresponding with the modular design methods. Summed up the framework map of the modular design of mobile communication products for the elderly, design practice is carried out under the guidance of the framework.Finally, the paper takes an empirical design based on empirical research on the mobile communication products for the elderly. It should be emphasized that the purpose of thesis is not a single product design, but to be able to provide some references for mobile communication products design for the elderly as a basic research.The innovation of the paper is to regard the modular theory as the starting point on the mobile communication products design for the elderly, to carry out the feasibility and scientific in-depth exploration on the mobile communication products design for the elderly directed by the modular design methods.The paper’s theoretical results are that the theory of modular design theory used in mobile communication products design for the elderly and demand points by the elderly when they use the mobile communications products. The main design results are the innovative design of mobile communications products for the elderly.
