With the development of information society, video communications widely applied in our work and life more and more, at the same time, the requests to the quality of video communication is higher. Therefore, a new generation of the video encoder international standards H.264/AVC was constituted. The standard has higher compression capabilities, better network adaptability and stronger error concealment. But, the transmission error occurs frequently during transmitting the coded and compressed video information as interruption and delay happen in channel. Therefore it is necessary to improve the error concealment and error resilience capability during the video transmitting.Firstly, this thesis introduced the basic framework and pivotal technology of video coding standard H.264/AVC briefly. Then the causation of the error occurring during video communication and its effect to the video communication was analyzed. The common error concealment and resilience technology and its application in H.264/AVC were studied. An improved multi-texture interpolation error concealment algorithm was proposed based on in-depth research the existing spatial area error concealment technologies and their disadvantages. This algorithm first find the marginal points on the pixel edges which are apart from the lost macro block d=2in the neighboring blocks, then, It statistics the gradient direction and gradient strength of the marginal points at the macro edges, and then it match the marginal points into marginal liners according to certain standards, then the lost macro is divided into several different regions. Finally, the macro is divided into smooth regions and texture regions according to a predetermined threshold. The smooth regions concealed with the mean interpolation algorithm, and the texture regions further divided into single-texture and multi-texture regions, and concealed respectively. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm can achieve good directional interpolation, avoid fake edges. The testing video sequences after error concealment had better vision effect and higher PSNR compared with mean interpolation algorithm and multi-texture interpolation algorithm.
