In the recent20years, the rapid development of global semiconductor industry makes the related software and hardware design achieve the new level, and many complex digital signal processing algorithm are able to be realized real-timely. The digital signal processor (DSP) is widely applied in the digital communication system for its realtime and high-speed processing ability. This paper mainly researches on the RPE-LTP algorithm which is used in the second generation of digital cellular telecommunication system and its realization on DSP.This paper firstly researches on the critical technology of hybrid coding and the theory of regular pulse excitement liner predicting and deeply anlysis the principle of RPE-LTP voice coding algorithm.In order to reduce coding rate, an improvement is made on the RPE coding part of the algorithm and a scheme which is processing a subsection of long term predict residual signal is put forward.Based on the software development environment CCS,the standard algorithm and the improved algorithm are simulated to test their validity using RTDX and DSP/BIOS technology.The MATLAB GUI host program is designed to realize real-time data exchang with DSP target program.After simulation of algorithm and optimization of software is made, the algorithm is transplanted to realized on the hardware system.It includes initialization of hardware, DSP/BIOS programming and configuration, debugging program and anlysis results.Experimental result indicates that the optimizated software increases efficiency of running and reduces code size.The algorithm can obtain the good speech coding quality and compressing effect. Improved algorithm has lower coding-rate on the not declining of speech quality and keeps its intelligibility and definition.This paper finally puts forward the part of the algorithm that requires improvement and the future expectation.
