The flotation process as a strong nonlinear, strong coupling, delay of multiple input and multiple output of continuous complex industry process, there are a large number of uncertain information and a variety of massive data, leading to the increase of labor intensity in the traditional artificial flotation and the hard to real-time adjust to industrial conditions. Through long-term analysis copper flotation bubble features in the images and relationship between each indicators in the copper flotation, after a great deal of repeated sampling and experiment, combined with machine vision technology and image processing techniques, have designed a set of copper flotation bubble image monitoring system.The extraction of copper flotation image features including the extraction of static and dynamic characteristics of the image.Using image processing algorithm, we have extracted characteristic quantities which are closely related to various indicators of the copper flotation, and identify the key quantity by means of analysis and processing. On the basis of large quantities of data, we have made relevant index forecasting model by using BP neural network, and then to guide the production of copper flotation, as a result of improving production efficiency. For the spot workers to quickly distinguish between the status of various foam, to quickly deal with the flotation process to make timely and effective adjustment, so we build an accurate bubble status classification and recognition model, and it can realize the comprehensive evaluation of the flotation process health status.In order to guide field workers operation well, we have progammed a copper flotation bubble image monitoring system using Visual C++6.0, which realized the advanced image processing algorithm. In order to improve the system. We have realized communication the system with DCS by using OPC technology. We collected data from the DCS, so that we can analyze the current flotation condition well, to achieve more effective control of the purpose of the flotation process.
