Frequency doubled Nd:YAG lasers has been widely used in education, industry, medical treatment, communications, military and many other research domains. Lasers have made a profound impact on social progress, and also there is a growing research interest and focus in frequency doubling Nd:YAG lasers.In this thesis, the design process of frequency doubling Nd: YAG laser is analyzed and the key element of lasers is designed and optimized numerically by using MATLAB program. On the basis, the experiment of a frequency doubling Nd:YAG laser is carried out and a higher output power is achieved, with significantly improved laser beam quality. The main work of this article is as follows.1. Based on the rate equation of solid-state lasers, incorporating laser fabrication theory and excellent achievements of laser design, parameter selection and related numerical calculation on light-gathering device, optical resonator cavity, frequency doubling crystal, pump light sources and water cooling system are all presented in the thesis.2. Laser emission output of1064nm and532nm is obtained with Q-modulation and harmonic conversion technology used respectively DKDP and KTP crystal in Nd:YAG lasers, and the laser prototype design with improved structure is completed.3. Related performance parameters of a frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser is analyzed and measured experimentally. The energy levels of output pulse greater than100mJ at1064nm and50mJ at532nm is achieved with divergence angle is less than3.5mrad and good uniformity of beam spot. Moreover.The results were compared with those data calculated numerically using MATLAB program, which show good agreements with experimental results.The designed laser system has the merit of compact structure, adjustment simple, easy to use, good stability and could be used repeatedly. Moreover, it is very appropriate for engineering education and teaching.
