The functionality of the existed assistant learning PDA is relatively simple,difficult to expand, so it is not able to be applied abroad. A low-cost, scalable,high-performance PDA-assisted learning product should be developed.The product is designed based on open source technology to GNU/Linux as thecore operating system to support the POSIX standard application development interface;QT/QTOPIA system is used as a graphical user interface components and frameworksto support a large number QT/QTOPIA PDA Application.Based on the FFMPEG/Mplayer open source multimedia technology, thehardware platform has been optimized, and supports a good multi-media learning andentertainment features; using SQLite and Berkeley DB-based open source databasetechnology as the data storage and access platforms, the system supports millions ofhigh-level dictionary search and retrieve samples.This paper mainly completed a face of the educational market multimedia assistedlearning PDA, at acceptable cost of support, it can include MP3MPEG4audio, videoplayback, support for visual repetition, audio-visual teaching and other multimediafeatures. It also achieved with the windows PC data sharing, transfer; support electronicdictionary, personal information management and game function.The implementation of the system, can be produced to meet the learning,communication and media player, a personal digital assistant function of PDA products,can effectively control the cost of the product, make it become a with the currentmainstream products in the market have a considerable competitive edge.
