Organic Light Emitting display (OLED) has advantages of fully solid state, self-luminous, ultra-thin, low power consumption, wide viewing angle limit, fast response and wide operating range. It is also an ideal plane light source, and it will have a bright future in the area of energy-saving lighting. Many aspects of the research on the commercialization of OLED devices had made some achievements. At this stage, the lifetime of OLED cannot achieve commercial demands, and it can only be applied on the small size of displays. These problems are serious obstacles to the development of commercialization of OLED. Improve the lifetime of the device is the most important problem to industrialize OLED, Effective encapsulation method of OLED is the key issues to improve the lifetime of the device. The background and current situation of the OLED are introduced in this dissertation firstly. Variety of substrates and encapsulation methods are summarized next. Advantages and disadvantages on these are also introduced. The working principle and the basic structure of type of OLED are described in the second chapter. Briefly introduced the materials that will be used in the experiment, the main performance parameters and attenuation mechanism are also described in this chapter. Encapsulation method of the OLED is emphasized.Whether the mica flakes can be used as new flexible substrate is discussed in the third chapter. The performance of the mica and indium sealing in electronic vacuum devices are summarized. Verified whether the indium sealing technology is fit for OLED sealing process or not. Anew package method on the new flexible substrates was proposed, a new device structures and packaging structures were also designed. The indium and indium alloys are used for the experimental that is designed for OLED packaging in the fourth chapter. Firstly, Indium sealing technology in the rigid substrate was used, in order to verify this technology is right. Glass substrate was used as rigid substrates in the experiment. The size and thickness of insulation and intermediate metals were designed firstly. And then the cleaning process of the glass and the ITO electrode were completed. The mask version was also designed next. It is proposed that materials of Ni-Cr alloy metal heating layer to heating the sealing partly. It is effectively to avoid being damaged the device by the overall heating. The experimental program must to be improved in order to solve the problems in the preceding experiment. Finally, Device was produced that just have a simple structure. Indium sealing technology is used to encapsulate this OLED device. Experimental results will show that whether the indium alloys use to encapsulate for the OLED device is feasibility or not.
