Real-Virtual Merging is the most important feature and the final visual rendering of Augmented Reality (AR for short). By means of Computer Vision and Computer Graphics, the virtual information is seamlessly embedded to real scene to enhance users’ sensory experience. Along with the development of hardware equipment and related technology, AR technology, which highlights Real-Virtual Merging, has gradually developed from theory research towards practical business, of which game entertainment is a very active application direction. This paper focuses on the key issues of AR game application, such as real-time tracking, accurate registration and special target, deeply analysis images characterization of plane image and human face image, studies natural feature proceeding technology, and constructs two kinds of prototype of Real-Virtual Merging application based on plane natural features and based on face detection. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1) Real-Virtual Merging game application based on plane natural features:Firstly, this paper uses FAST+SURF to do natural feature detection and description; Secondly, FLANN, which is suitable for high dimensional data spatial, is applied to match features and PORSAC to calculate the homography matrix; Thirdly, based on offline training-online matching framework, this paper realizes Real-Virtual Merging game application based on plane natural features. Experiments show that the system has good accuracy and runs in real time on different distances, different rotation angles and different background light conditions.(2) Real-Virtual Merging game application based on face detection:This paper uses Adaboost+ASEF to detect faces in video images, taking into account real-time and accuracy of face detection in the game system. Aimed at the inaccuracy caused by head deflection, this paper presents affine-constrainted optical flow tracking and real-time face template replacement methods used in non-planar face game application prototype. Experiments shows these methods can be applied to large angle offset scenarios.
