Along with the rapid economic development, the ownership of the residents in the car continuously increased, so the tires demand of the residents is increasing. Therefore, the problem about tire safety was also more and more attention. Especially the tires safety testing before they leave the factory, how to detect the tire defects accurately and efficiently, and to ensure the quality of the tire, is the current problem must be pay attention.At present, the detection used in the tires is mainly X-ray technology, that using X-ray technology to image, and then through the tire defects detection equipment for testing. Foreign equipment is very expensive, many production equipment use artificial method for testing, so how to effectively produce the automatic detecting system for tire is the current researchers are studying.This paper uses digital image processing technology for defect image analysis, in view of the defect problems to design analysis, provide the theory basis for the research of tire automatic detection software, and provides new ideas for development of tire testing equipment system. This paper introduces the development of the tire testing equipment system at present, and then introduced the theory of the digital image processing, based on the image recognition detection, and research new image methods for defects detection, that for tire side area design different detect methods. To the tire bubble problems, using the method of edge detection, and for the arrangement unusual of cord, the key is the threshold segmentation and thinning of the cord, and give the results of the simulation experiment.The paper uses MATLAB for development environment, uses MATLAB for simulation, and provides a good foundation to design the tire defects detection software.
