Design And Implementation Of The Academic Paper Vertical Search Engine

Combined with years of accumulated paper, more and more people engaged in research, leading to the rapid increase of papers, which has brought new challenges for researchers. Search engine becomes a timely and effective way to get information of papers, but there are shortcomings such as duplication of information. So as a generic search engine’s added, vertical search engine meets the needs of individual users better. The purpose of this paper is to construct a vertical search engines for paper, to meet researchers’ needs in retrieving papers.Based on the study on vertical search engine, this paper design and implement the paper vertical search engines. The requirements of the system are first analyzed, and then the system’s framework is designed. The system consists of five modules: information acquisition, page pre-processing, indexing, query service and clustering recommendation. This paper presented the detail designs of each module. According to the detail designs, we finished the implement and testing of the prototype of the system.Features:using a focused Web robot crawls information about paper though the Internet; matching of structured information extraction technology based on template in pre-processing module; on the base of vertical search engine, this paper added the clustering recommendation modules, which allows users to browse and select their favorite theme to get the paper they want, besides retrieve; also recently published paper module was in the system, where users can browse the latest published papers.
