In mechanical industry, it is important to measure and monitor the critical equipment, which can help the engineers track the malfunction and come up with solutions quickly so that the equipment can work longer. So we designed a system used for data acquisition and analysis to measure and analyze the mechanical signal after researching the theory about data acquisition and signal processing, so that we can monitor the state of the running mechanical equipment. Based on MATLAB software, we can program for the data acquisition cards to get the signal data; with the assist of data analysis in MATLAB, the signal data can be analyzed. Finally, we will complete a virtual software interface in a MATLAB/GUI environment, so we can integrate the total system. The system consists of data acquisition modular and signal processing module.Firstly, we designed the data acquisition modular. In MATLAB environment we developed the interface control program for the respective data acquisition cards, connecting the Model PCI-1712of Advantech Company and Model PCI-6024E of NI Company in MATLAB. In data acquisition module, we can setup the parameters for the data acquisition, control the process, display the data curve, and finally save the acquired data.Secondly, we completed the functions of the signal processing module by calling the initial functions of MATLAB and the self definite functions by developer. The signal processing module includes signal pretreatment, signal time domain analyzing, and signal frequency domain analyzing.1) Signal pretreatment:consisting of the transformation, amplifying, filtering and smoothing for the raw signal.2) Signal time-domain analyzing:the display and statistics analysis for time-domain waveform; the distribution of signal probability density; the correlation function, including self correlation function and cross correlation function.3) Signal frequency domain analyzing:the FFT and IFFT; the power spectrum estimation, auto power spectrum and cross power spectrum; the coherence function. Finally, we tested each function module in the end of designing, and made a summary to estimate the system, and tempted to transplant the system so much so that the system could function without MATLAB environment. At last, we proposed the solution for the improvement of system in future, enhancing the efficiency and versatility of the system.
