With the rapid development of computer technology and the continuous expansion of themultinational scale, enterprise-wide information technology has become an inevitable trend.Due to business needs and the development of the enterprise, a number of heterogeneousinformation systems exists for a long time. Meanwhile, in the process of informationconstruction, the existing information systems are being replaced by the more powerful of thenew system., In the upgrade process, such as from client/server (C/S) infrastructure to thebrowser/server (B/S) infrastructure, the problem of heterogeneous data migration needs tobe solved. On the basis of comparison and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of theexisting major data migration tools and methods, this paper aims to research and design a JTAtransaction-based data migration method. With the help of the JTA transaction, the methodcan garateen the consistency of both the source database and target database even if themigration process is terminated unexpectedly. Besides, the business rules engine and therelationship-object mapping mechanism are integrated into the method to implement amigration solution with a higer customization degree than other migration tools. This paper first introduces the development of data migration and the J2EE framework. Then by analyzing and comparing among a variety of migration tools or methods, the paperput forward new requirements on data migration process. Based on these requirements, thepaper designs a JTA transaction-based migration method, which is detailedly described withan online shopping mall case. Finally, a related migration tool is implemented and be in use ofthe project of a hospital information system’s data migration, and is proved to be capable ofundertaking for data migration tasks.
