The user interface is the bridge of human and computer communication, which has high usability and can help users to complete their task effectively and efficiently. The requirements of UI usability are not same for different users and different terminal equipment as well as interactive mode will have varying degrees of impact on UI usability. As a result,in order to generate UI with high usability,the traditional developing methods are to bring about for different types of users, equipment and interactive mode one by one.As the widespread use of cloud computing, the traditional environment of human-computer interaction is undergoing profound changes, which are about to be more diversification of user types, higher differentiation degrees of terminal equipment and more types of interactive mode. If the above-mentioned method were to be used in the future, interface developers will inevitably be left to a kind of hard-to-handle situation. That is to say, the traditional method has already proved to be inefficient, rigid and unsustainable. Therefore, how to conveniently and effectively develop UI to make it suit diverse users, terminal equipment and interactive mode becomes an urgent issue waiting to be solved. Due to the wide scope of this topic, it is useful to make research in different fields and stages. This paper mainly focuses on the research to develop user interface for heterogeneous devices.This study introduces the idea of service-oriented to the development of UI. The main idea is to encapsulate the implemented UI components as service based on the user-task model. What’s more,according to the input/output function of these services and the support of the platform, they will be reused to the development of UI for heterogeneous devices so as to improve the working efficiency of the interface developer. Guided by this ideology, this paper proposes and develops a service-oriented interface generation tool for heterogeneous devices(SIGTHD). All the interface developer have to do only include firstly, describe UI from the abstract levels, employing task tree model, object model and interactive model. Then, deploy the described document to SIGTHD. SIGTHD can convert the abstract description into demands for UI component service. And integrate the context parameters, make quick response to different terminal equipment, discover and invoke the appropriate UI component service to generate UI with good usability.In order to testify the correctness and practicability of related models as well as SIGTHD proposed by this paper, the final part of the paper implements a simple example of "customer information management system", presenting the process in detail on how to make use of the SIGTHD to generate the user interface for PC and the smart phone,and finally the ultimate user interfaces are given.
