Ontology plays an important role in information organization and artificial intelligence and is in the coreposition of the semantic web architecture. The inherent differences of ontologies must bring about theinconsistent between ontologies, while the best way to resolve this issue is ontology mapping. To beused, processed, disseminated and shared, the mapping results must be represented by some ontologymapping representation mechanism. There are four shortages in current ontology mappingrepresentation mechanisms: lack of compatibility with the semantic web language, no strong enoughexpressive force, unable to represent mapping relationship strength quantitatively, hard to beindependent of ontology definition. To address these issues, we do a deep analysis of the currentontology mapping representation mechanisms to refine the current mechanism, put forward an ontologymapping representation mechanism based on optimized mapping structure and OWL extension. Themain content of this research is:First, optimizing the structure of the ontology mapping: We make a more stringent definition ofontology elements involved in ontology mapping, and provide more mapping relationship types and amapping quantify factors, to get a more clear, more explicit, and more expressive ontology mappingstructure. Second, specifying the OWL extension methods: We analyze the principle of OWL extension,survey the domestic and foreign OWL extension methods, study on OWL extension method, propose anrefined OWL vocabulary, syntax, semantic extension methods. Third, extending OWL`s ability torepresent ontology mapping: we based on the refined ontology mapping structure, we use OWL syntaxextension method to extend OWL`s ontology mapping representation ability, that is OWLm. At last, weconduct a demonstration application: We illustrate the OWLm`s compatibility by representing thereference mapping of OAEI using OWLm. We illustrate the OWLm`s independence by establishing afishery ontology mapping library using OWLm.Through the research above, we get the conclusion that: the OWLm is compatible with the language ofthe Semantic Web, can represent all four types of mapping relationship, can provide the mechanism toquantify the mapping relationship, can represent a whole ontology consistence information withoutdependent on ontology definition, it draws on the advantages and shortages of the current ontologymapping representation mechanisms, is a well compatible, articulate, quantifiable, independent ontologymapping representation mechanism; its syntax and semantics are formal defined, each mappingrecord has a URI, allows to annotate mapping representation, which improve the classic mappingrepresentation mechanism "Alignment Format".
