With the post-PC era, embedded mobile devices have been incorporated into millions of households, and play an integral role in people’s daily lives. Although the hardware performance of embedded mobile device has improved greatly, its software performance is still the most concerned about. Thus, it has great research value to develop a practical embedded and mobile devices performance analysis tool. And it is a problem should be solved in research process for software performance analysis of embedded and mobile devices. This paper relies on a tool development project-software performance analysis tool for embedded mobile devices based on the ETM equipment, that the name is FTC (FineToothComb). The project is belongs to R&D research center of Nokia, which is the world’s leading embedded mobile device manufacturers. Theory of software performance analysis tools and implementation techniques were researched in this paper. The key technologies and equipment related to this tool are introduced briefly. And there is detailed description of this embedded mobile device software performance analysis tools, analysis methods and design process. It shows testing methods and the final test results of this tool, after the testing work.FTC is not a single piece of software analysis tools running on PC. It is a series tool, based on the hardware and ETM modules and TRACE32simulation debugging tools, coupled with the FTC control panel, data analysis and performance analysis program, as well as the need to use the data server, WEB server. Although there are some functional bugs after the initial process of using it, it is still played a very big role on helping on the process of performance optimization in the handheld device for software engineers, improving the software to optimize the efficiency of the software sector greatly. And this tool is released to the developers and testing department, as soon as the quality of the entire project completed by the quality departments inspected. It becomes a universal software analysis tool in the company. It shows that this tool plays an important role in the optimization process in the software performance of multiple projects within the company.
